How It All Began
It all started on Labor Day weekend in Cambridge, Maryland. Meera had been invited by her work friend, Jordan, to spend the holiday at her boyfriend’s summer house. They were close at work, but Meera didn’t know many of the other guests, and had no idea she was walking into Jordan’s engagement weekend.
What she also didn’t know? Jordan had been playing matchmaker behind the scenes, telling her friend Kirit, who flew in from San Francisco, that he absolutely had to meet Meera.
Meera and Kirit crossed paths for the first time on Friday afternoon. He was quiet. She was busy meeting other people. They barely spoke.
Later that evening, after witnessing the beautiful engagement, the party came to life, and Meera finally introduced herself. The connection was instant. From that moment on, they were inseparable. They rode to dinner together that night, completely lost in conversation while friends snapped photos of the two of them, already in their own little world.
They stayed up talking all night long and they both remember feeling a rush of excitement, quickly followed by panic when they remembered that she lived in DC and he was based in San Francisco. It was clear that it was love at first site and they were both already trying to figure out how to make the logistics work.
They spent the rest of the weekend side by side, and by Monday, Kirit bought Meera a ticket to come back to San Francisco with him. She stayed for three weeks, working remotely. When it was finally time to return to D.C., they both knew they’d figure it out.
Less than a year later, Meera moved to San Francisco. And they’ve been building their life together ever since.
